I often find myself pondering the altered landscape. I am drawn not only to the formal qualities of objects and structures that have been placed within my field of view, but the social forces and power relations implied by the spatial interactions between them.
My photographs explore the interchange between space and place, the process by which man-made spaces and their contents acquire meaning. When objects are placed in the landscape, spaces become meaningful places, and the objects themselves often take on a new identity. My interest is to call attention to, and in many cases question, this curious, liminal relationship.
